Almond Alliance Convention

Almond Alliance of California’s Annual Convention is the premier event for the almond community. The convention is a one of a kind opportunity that brings together industry professionals. Growers, huller/shellers, processors and allied businesses gather in a collaborative atmosphere to share knowledge, attend educational seminars, cultivate innovative ideas, while developing fresh approaches to their businesses.

Attendees will spend three days at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, California. The 2018 convention agenda is packed with interactive and informative experiences, assuring that attendees get the most out of their convention experience. Almond Alliance provides a venue for the almond community to gather, exchange ideas, and learn about the current trends in our industry.

Attendee registration will be open from January 22, 2018 – March 31, 2018 
*Late fees will be applied from April 1, 2018 – April 23, 2018

Exhibit at the 2018 Almond Alliance Convention

The Almond Alliance Convention provides a unique networking platform for your company to showcase products, services and offerings to almond hullers/shellers, processors, handlers and growers.  Attendees are able to listen to captivating speakers, gain insight on current industry trends, and rejuvenate industry relations with old and new friends!

Booth selection and exhibitor registration will be open from January 22, 2018 – March 25, 2018 or to sale out.  Priority is based on level of sponsorship support and membership status/history and then on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Exhibitor Registration Fees:

  • One complimentary registration with exhibit purchase
  • Colleague: $250
  • Spouse: $100
  • Late Registration- Colleague: $325
  • Late Registration- Spouse: $130

Exhibit Space Fee:$1,200 (one booth per company)

Display: 10 x 10 carpeted space, one 6′ draped table, two chairs, 110 V electrical service (upon request), as well as listings in Convention Program. One conference registrations (additional booth personnel must be registered for the conference)

  • Set-Up: Exhibitors set up will be between 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Monday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 1st.
  • Break-Down: Exhibitors have two opportunities for break-down. Thursday, May 3rd between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm or Friday, May 4th  between 7:30 am and 10:00 am. Early break-down must be approved by Almond Alliance prior to the convention or early break-down fees will be applied.

Check-In: Please check in at the Official Registration area. (All Exhibitors MUST be registered for Convention 2018 in addition to registering for an exhibit space.)

Sponsorship Opportunities are Available!

Almond Alliance Members have the opportunity to sponsor the Annual Convention 2018 in a variety of ways. Company name or logo placement options are available, and sponsorship’s range with commensurate promotional exposure. Given the increased popularity and impact of Convention sponsorship’s, Almond Alliance has increased our sponsorship opportunities to accommodate, our members request. (Please note, we offer first right of refusal to Member Companies who sponsored last year.)

  • All sponsors will be eligible for early booth selection begin the week of January 8, 2018, with priority based on level of sponsorship support.
  • Logo or company name in text form (depending upon level of sponsorship) on the convention 2018 website

Monterey, CA Welcomes Almond Alliance for our 2018 Annual Convention!

The convention location and hotel for 2018 Annual Convention is the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course.

Room block will be open between January 8, 2018 –  March 31, 2018.

We are delighted to have negotiated great room prices and concessions for our members. Room rates start at $229 single/double occupancy and the group is exempt from the daily Hotel Service Fee. If you are unable to attend for any reason, you are responsible for cancelling your own room reservations directly with the hotel at least 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid a one-night penalty charge imposed by the hotel. Check-in time: 4 pm, Check-out time: 11 am.

Please note that in order to have a reservation in the group room block, you must be a member of Almond Alliance and register for the Almond Alliance Annual Convention. Almond Alliance reserves the right to review the conference room block and remove those individuals who have not registered for the conference. The hotel reservation should be made under the corresponding registered delegate’s name to avoid confusion.

Conference attendees are welcome to call the hotel for reservations at  (831) 372-1234; please mention that you are with the “Almond Alliance” to receive the group rate. Early reservations are recommended as discounted rooms are limited. Conference room rates are available until March 31, 2018 or until sold out.

Alternative Uses for Biomass – Managing biomass and organic byproducts continues to be a major issue for the almond industry. As we step up research efforts to find alternate uses for almond byproducts, convention attendees will hear from USDA’s Agricultural Research Service facility in Albany, bioproducts research leader, Dr. Bill Ortz.

Food Safety Modernization Act – Attorney Rachael D. Spiegel of Faegre Baker Daniels is set to provide attendees with a detailed overview of the Food Safety Modernization Act and foodborne illness litigation. Spiegel will delve into FSMA’s minimum standards for safe production, as well as discuss how the Foreign Supplier Verification rule will affect specialty crop growers. The session will wrap up with real-life examples of how food safety errors could result in civil ligation and criminal prosecution and tips on how to properly manage contamination outbreaks.

Sustainability: Why it Matters – Wednesday’s agenda continues with a presentation by Almond Board of California (ABC). To quote Almond Alliance’s Chairman, Brad Craven, “The word sustainability means different things to different people”; attendees will hear what sustainability means to ABC and how ABC staff and committees are continually investing in research regarding sustainable programs, practices and procedures to insure the longevity and validity of the almond industry.

Almond Alliance Update – The Almond Alliance Annual Business Meeting will close out day one of the educational portion of the convention. Newly named President Elaine Trevino will address members with her first ever annual address summarizing the association’s annual activities and highlighting her plans for the association in the future.

Labor Law: Getting Ready For Season – On Thursday morning, employers will benefit from a presentation by Stacy Henderson, partner at Terpstra Henderson, A Professional Corporation. Henderson has gained a reputation as an outstanding civil litigation and transactional attorney, specializing in the areas of employment law, corporate law and public agency law. Utilizing her expertise, Henderson will be counseling members on how to prepare for seasonal workforce during her presentation, “Getting Ready for Season”.

Tax Reform Update – For over 50 years, K·Coe Isom has helped nut growers, producers, and manufacturers achieve financial prosperity through tax strategies, including farm income averaging, cost segregation, depreciation, and IC-DISC and R&D credits. They will provide an overview of the impacts of national tax reform on the industry and discuss how to be prepared for financial success heading into the new crop year.

Water 360: Past, Present and Future – Thursday’s seminars will include a presentation focusing on a significant issue impacting California agriculture—water. Ellen Hanak is director of the non partisan Water Policy Center at the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) . Under her leadership, the center has become a critical unbiased source of information and guidance for natural resource management in California. She has authored dozens of reports, articles, and books on water policy, including Managing California’s Water. Her research is frequently profiled in the national media, and she participates in briefings, conferences, and interviews throughout the nation and around the world.

Advocacy Panel: Bipartisan Views on State and Federal Policy Issues – Our 2018 Seminar agenda will conclude with a panel focused on the latest in state politics moderated by Almond Alliance’s Manager of Government Relations, Andrea York. The discussion will cover a wide range of legislative and regulatory issues our industry faces at both the state and federal levels. Later that evening, the Almond Industry PAC will host a legislative cocktail reception providing guests the opportunity to get social with the legislators and influencers that are engaged with our political efforts.
