If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu
As is often heard in Sacramento, “if you are not at the table, you are on the menu.” While many in the California almond industry strive to put almonds on chef’s menus, the Almond Alliance is working at the table to maintain a strong and viable industry. As the California almond industry has grown and become the largest crop in California with an estimated 1,110,000 acres, increased visibility has resulted in scrutiny and unprecedented challenges for growers, huller/shellers, handlers, processors and allied industry partners. Despite its numerous contributions to local communities and the state’s economy, the industry is faced with increasing concerns about both its ability and right to farm.
To address these challenges and to identify proactive opportunities for the almond industry, the association went through a strategic planning process and is implementing a comprehensive government relations program. The program includes:
- Full service advocacy including legislative and regulatory affairs
- Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Almond Board of California (ABC) for technical expertise
- California Almond Industry Political Action Committee
Almond Alliance provides a voice for California’s almond industry striving to protect and defend the rights of the almond growers, hulling/shelling and processing industry in all matters of government. Almond Alliance monitors legislative activities and advocates on behalf of the California Almond industry for issues affecting the ability of our members to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
